There is a giant in the land, and he is wreaking havoc among God's people! He is more powerful than all members of God's army on their own, and he's out to kill and destroy us. He hates God, and there is not a man (or woman) among us who can stand against him. His name is Satan. 

He is filthy and vile, armed with cruel hate, and he rides forth taking captive slaves for his kingdom. He is never satisfied, always wanting more pawns to serve him, and he sets his sights specifically on the church of Jesus Christ. He despises us!

在地上有个巨人，他在神的百姓中间猖狂肆虐！他比所有凭自己力量争战的天兵更强大，他出来要杀戮毁灭我们。他恨神，而我们中间没有一个男人（或是女人）能挺身而出对抗他。他的名字叫撒旦。

What are we to do? Is there a David among us, one who can't stand to hear the mocking of the giant, and who knows that the battle belongs to the Lord? Who will take him on? 

Who has an arsenal of stones of grace with which to knock the giant down and is able use the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, to take his head off? Who wants to take the offensive, vindicate the name of God, and bring victory for the people of God?

我们要怎样做？我们中间有没有一位大卫，不能容忍巨人的叫骂，知道争战的成败在乎耶和华？有没有人将要把他拿下？

有没有人以恩典的石子为兵器，把巨人打倒，并可以以圣灵的宝剑，上帝之道斩下他的头？有没有人想要采取攻势，来维护神的名，给神的百姓带来胜利？

I hope you will respond "I do!" In this day and age, the church of Jesus Christ needs a David: one who takes no confidence in the armor of kings or in his own ability, but who relies on the sovereign grace of God and the power of the gospel to defeat sin's giant.

Do you want a piece of the giant? Are you sick and tired of seeing the devil gain more and more captives for his kingdom? Do you want to do something about it? You can!

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 

49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

Friend, as soldiers in the Lord's army, we should be eager to kill the enemy through the power of God. We must "run quickly" toward the battle line to meet him. 

The Bible states that the gates of hell will not prevail against us (Matthew 16:18), which implies that we are to take the offensive and storm the fortified city of the devil. We may fully expect success, since the gates of hell will not be able to keep us out!

This eagerness to take on the enemy comes from experiencing many previous victories over the power of the devil. In the same chapter we are studying today, David recalls previous victories, an act that reassures him that God will destroy the giant. He states,

Verse 51 tells us that David used Goliath's own weapon to behead the giant and, by so doing, he freed all Israel from their fear of the giant. This is an amazing foreshadow of Christ—Jesus took death, the devil's own weapon, and used it to destroy the devil. Notice how Hebrews 2:14 -15 compares:

Pastor Joe wrote, "Just living and hoping the attacks of Satan will go away will never give us victory. I have found that I must be on the offensive in every area of spiritual life and warfare. 

Most of my life, I have just tried to dodge Satan's bullets. Now I seek not only to stay undefeated by his power, but to defeat him in the name of the Lord Jesus and for His glory."

According to verse 55, David not only killed the giant but also cut off his head. Isn't this a bit much—overkill, so to speak? 

It's actually an important lesson for us: when dealing with our sins, we need to take such drastic action against them that we prevent them from ever rearing their ugly heads in our lives again. Do not merely kill the giant, but cut his head off!

Friend, your freedom from habitual sin (the giant in your life) will have an effect on others and encourage them toward victory. As the months of victory over the power of the devil roll on, you soon discover that God's power is stronger and you have killed the enemy. 

But helping others to enjoy victory as well, is like cutting the enemy's head off.

朋友，你从习惯性的罪（你生命中的巨人）中得释放，这将对他人产生影响，并激励他们走向胜利。当你胜过魔鬼的月份不断增长时，你将很快发现神的力量强大起来，你已经杀死了仇敌。但是帮助其他人也享受胜利，就像是砍下仇敌的头。

You are nearing the end of The Way of Purity course. If you are free from sexual sin, it is a great victory! 

But now it may be time for you to start thinking and praying about a ministry to help others out of the fire from which God rescued you. Don't merely relish your own victory over the giant, but cut his head off and inspire numerous others to pursue victory also, as David did.

你已经接近洁净之道课程的尾声了。如果你已经从性罪行中被释放，这是一个伟大的胜利！

But be cautious! Please do not become involved in ministry if you are still viewing pornography or any sexual sin. The reason is that your soul is still in deception. You will not be able to truly help others to freedom while you yourself are in chains. Knowledge is not enough; power in the life is essential. "Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one!" (Job 14:4)

但是要注意！如果你还在浏览色情或是沾染其他的性罪行，请不要参与事工。原因是你的灵魂始终在欺骗当中。你在锁链中时，将无法真正帮助他人得到自由释放。只有知识是不够的；生命中力量才是本质的。“谁能使洁净之物出于污秽之中呢？无论谁也不能！”（约伯记14:4）

Some people have asked how long they need to be pure before they begin a ministry. We simply don't know, because the answer varies. God will make it known at the right time, and you need to know, in your heart, that you are completely and fully done with all sexual sin for good. You must have an eagerness to help others out of the trap too.

有人问到，在他们开始事工以前，应该保持多长时间的洁净。我们真的不知道，因为答案各不相同。如果你需要知道的话，神将在合适的时候在你心中告诉你，你已经完全、彻底地且一劳永逸地解决了罪的问题。你也必须渴望去帮助他人从陷阱中走出来。

There are many different types of ministries to help those enslaved to pornography, and we cannot list them all here. Here are some examples, however. With some thought, you may be able to add to this list.

·Be a mentor with us to assist others to purity

What does "feasting" mean?

"Feasting" is more than just reading the Bible; it is a term to express the nourishing of our souls in Jesus Christ. It means that we are sitting at the feet of Jesus, hearing His Word and believing it, for the purpose of implementing the truths into our lives. It means we are receiving spiritual nourishment and we are delighting our souls in His grace and truth. 

This may be done in reading our Bibles, hearing God's Word preached, interacting with others in the Scriptures, and studying through this course, etc. This definition is at least a start; further explanation is included in the lessons.
